- ENTHUSIAM & HONESTY: Show passion and show your audience you know what you are talking about. Be open and honest as this is one of the main or key factors in gaining the audiences' trust even if you won't be seeing them, this is a crucial element if you want your presentation to be heard and listened to and most importantly, if you want to get your point across! This would not only increase the attention gained but also your audience would relate to whatever you have to say as you would have gained their trust
- FOCUS ON AUDIENCES' NEEDS: Make it easy for your audience to understand the point you are trying to make
- KEEP IT SIMPLE: don't overcomplicate the subject/topic. Make it short and sweet. Stick to the key message or the summary that should be no longer than 15 seconds. don't go off topic- it will bore your audience. Don't mention anything else that does not contribute to the main idea behind the topic.
- SMILE & MAKE EYE CONTACT: It may be nerve wrecking but remember to smile and make eye contact with your audience to bring a warm vibe to the presentation. Not only will this help you relax but also grasp the audience's attention right away and have their full attention and makes them feel as if you are engaging with them
- STAR STRONG: The way you start your presentation is crucial, it is the tone and atmosphere you set for the rest of the presentation so make it strong and memorable. Relate to the main aim of the presentation to make it crystal clear what you are going to talk about.
- STICK TO 10-20-30 RULE: No more than 10 slides- No more than 20 minutes for the whole presentation-No less than 30 point as a font. Remember YOU are the presentation itself.
- FIND THE STORY BEHIND YOUR PRESENTATION: Look for things like characters and stories or an objective to use to tell a story through your presentation. Have a narrative talking about things such as how the produced was devised. Change in dynamic!
- TELL THE STORY: Once you found the story you have, tell it! Tell it effectively most importantly, engage with your audience.
- USE YOUR VOICE AND BODY EFFECTIVELY: Use what you have! Vary your tone, don't rush, don't mumble, don't shout, speak clearly, don't miss out info or words, vary your speed, change the pitch, use your body, use you hands and move naturally, be comfortable.
- RELAX, BRETHE & ENJOY: Last but not least, relax, you need to be relaxed to present your best, breathe, if you mess up it isn't the end of the world, imagine you are only speaking to one or 2 people. ENJOY!!
